HURRICANE HANNA

It was only a tropical storm, but Hurricane Hanna just sounds more exciting.  We were prepared for a storm and were a little disappointed with what we got.  A decent amount of rain, but less wind than we get on any other day.  We decided to take advantage of the warm rain occurring just before bathtime and go play in the rain.  There was no lightning, so don't worry.

We started out playing in our raincoats and an umbrella for Andrew.  We quickly ended up throwing off the raincoats and Andy ended up in just a diaper.  We were playing kickball and Daddy fell over with quite a commotion whenever he was hit.  Joey loved the theatrics.

Andrew's Birthday

I don't have most of the pictures from Andrew's birthday yet, but here is a sneak peek of what I do have.  I had a friend take the pictures so that I could just enjoy the moment instead of worrying about pictures.  I will post some more as soon as I pick up the disk.  Anyone who knows me well should know not to hold their breath.  :)

Children's Museum

My mommy group went to the Children's Museum in downtown Charleston today.  I can't believe that we have not been before.  It was great.  Joey had an absolute blast.  It is so nice to go somewhere that they are encouraged to touch anything and everything.  All of their exhibits are hands-on learning experiences.  There was even an area just for Andrew's age.  We will definitely be back!

Motorcycle Ride

Yes, that is Joey on the motorcycle.  I promise they only took a quick ride around the circle.

I have spent nearly every single moment of Andrew's entire first year with him.  I rarely ever go anywhere without him.  I am a stay at home mom and that is what I do.  I decided to go shopping for a couple of hours yesterday by myself and the little stinker decided to take his first step!  I can't believe I missed it!!!   I am happy that Joe was able to see Andrew's since he missed Joey's, but come on!  Okay, enough whining.  Andy took his first step!  Yay!  I can't wait until he gets the hang of it.

Rodeo Bound

We are back in Charleston now and Joe took Joey to the rodeo tonight.  He wanted to be a cowboy so we broke out the cowboy hat and boots.   I just had to share!

Idaho

We are having fun here in Idaho. I almost forgot how much I love the Idaho summers. It is hot in the day and cold at night, such a great combo. There is no humidity so the few 105 degree days that we had were actually still enjoyable, crazy as that sounds.

Joe left for Charleston on Friday, so I am just spending some quality time with my Idaho family. It is not the same without Joe, but we are still enjoying it. I will try to post pictures when I have more time, but right now I am too busy just having fun.

"You can use my finger"

I am carrying Joey through the airport and I say, "I really need to blow my nose".

"You can use my finger" my sweet boy says, thinking he can really help me out.

I thought he was offering his finger, but I didn't realize that he was also offering his services until he shoved that finger up my nose while I had no free hand to defend myself.

What a sight we were, me holding my luggage in one hand, my son in the other arm and trying to pull my face from a very determined nose-picker!

On the road again

We leave tomorrow for Tennessee to visit Joe's parents for a few days and then we are headed to Idaho to see mine.  I am excited to go to Idaho, it has been too long since I have been there.  Andrew is 10 months now and barely anyone in my family has even met him.  That is so sad!  I can't wait for everyone to see my beautiful children.

See everyone soon!

Andy's First Swim

We took Andy to the pool for the first time today.  He loved it!  He is such a water lover and the pool was no different.  He kicked his feet like he was swimming.  He splashed and screamed happily.

We've been busy

I'm sorry I haven't posted in such a long time.  Since Joe got home we have been keeping ourselves busy having fun.  He hasn't had to work in the office, so we have been getting lots of Daddy time.  It's like a mini vacation.

Joe's parents came for a quick visit this week.  I will try to post some photos later, but we had a nice visit.  The boys really enjoy their MawMaw and PawPaw.

Also, we are moving next week.  It is only 5 minutes away, but it still takes all of the preparation and packing that any other move does.  It makes me appreciate when the military moves us even more.

I promise more later once my life slows down.

I Made My Bed!!!

Time 4:43 am

I'm sleeping soundly
Tap, tap, tap on my arm
"Mommy, mommy I made my bed!"
"Great, now go back to bed"
"I want to show you"
he is so proud of himself how can I be grumpy?
"See!"
"It looks great, now go back to bed"
and he does

Oh, Joey!

On Monday Joey had his end of year singing program at preschool.  The program was about 25 minutes of all of the classes standing up together and singing the songs they have learned this semester.   Joey spent about 23 of the 25 minutes with one finger up his nose and one hand touching his lower boy parts.  He did take momentary breaks to switch hands.  He was right up front and trust me people noticed.  Can't wait to show him the video when he is older!

Joey loves to match Andrew

Maw Maw sent the boys matching airplane pajamas, so I had to snap a few pictures before Andrew outgrew his.  That could be tomorrow at the rate he is growing!

Andrew Crawls!

So I probably could have counted what he has been doing for the last couple of days as crawling, but it is now official.  He is moving in a forward motion to get at stuff.  Only a small amount at a time, but it still counts.  He has also been rolling to get all over.  He sits up to turn and then he is off and rolling again.  It is nice to finally see him get a bit more mobile.  It's a lot less frustrating for him.

Yes, I use the word Butt

Last night I made a quick trip to Michael's to look for some new frames.  Sounds simple enough, but don't forget that I have two children.  Andrew was his typical cute self and he just sat happily in the basket.  Joey was his typical self and fought me the entire time because he would rather run off than obey.  After about the billionth time of going too far from me I said "Get your butt back over here"  to which he turned backwards bent over a bit and walked with his butt aimed at me, literally bringing his butt back over here.
As I am writing this story he came up and gave me a hug and told me that he liked me and that I am the best mommy in the world.  You can never hear that too much!

My Superheroes

Joey's BFF Tyler came over to play yesterday and of course they dressed up like superheroes.  Joey started out as Superman, but then switched to Buzz Lightyear so that they could match.  Check out Tyler's flying skills at the bottom.

Andy Milestone

Andy finally learned to go from his stomach to sitting.  He is very proud of himself.  He is such a mellow baby that he has not been in a hurry to get moving, unlike Joey who came out kicking and screaming and hasn't stopped since.

Joe left for Germany today for a little more than two weeks.  I plan on keeping up with my blog so that he can keep up with us.

We love and miss you, Joe!

Air Show

This weekend was the Air Expo here at our base.  We were able to beat the crowds by going the day before for Military Family Day.  It truly was a beautiful and fun family day.

During the Thunderbirds demonstration Joey kept flying his toy Thunderbirds to match them.  It was adorable!
